Hello. I am Dr. Sally Hassan, a freelance medical writer in London, UK. I have >9 years of experience in medical writing (including 5.75 years working in reputable medical writing agencies) and have worked with several internationally-based clients within those agencies.

I specialize in scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals, abstracts, posters, presentation slides for congresses, and medical education deliverables. I am also experienced in co-developing scientific publication plans.

My therapy area experience includes rare diseases (hereditary angioedema, Hunter Syndrome, Sanfilippo Syndrome, Fabry disease, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency), oncology (B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, urothelial carcinoma, prostate cancer, and colorectal cancer), cardiovascular disease, osteoarthritis, and aesthetic medicine. However, I can work in any therapeutic area.

My Background Story
My unique background (for 10+ years) as a biochemical engineer/bioprocess research and development scientist before transitioning into medical writing has allowed me to understand some of the challenges of biopharmaceutical production and become a strategic and analytical problem-solver.
Before medical writing, I co-authored ten peer-reviewed articles on collaborative research. I also presented at international conferences on the production of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies in transgenic plants or mammalian cells, synthetic biology of microbial cells to produce non-viral vectors for gene therapy, and cell therapy manufacturing economics.

Soon realizing I enjoyed communicating scientific findings, I transitioned into the collaborative medical communications field in the autumn of 2015.
